About Us:
Company History
A & R Hepburn started trading in 1898 and became registered as a Limited Company in 1978. We were originally based at Dock Street, Leith however in 1932 we purchased a company who operated out of a site on West Harbour Road, Granton. The company operated from it’s base in Granton for over 65 years. In January 2008, Hepburn's received inward investment from the McSence Group and in June 2008, we relocated to a fantastic new office facility in Mayfield, Dalkeith.

Since its inception the company’s policy has been to progressively and continually improve the level of service and expand its customer base by the provision of supplying quality products and services, these being delivered and completed on time at both a competitive price and to a very high quality. The company has always embraced the latest technologies available and has invested in all aspects of IT infrastructure and staff training.
Over the years the company has offered a wide range of services, constantly managing to diversify and compete in an ever-changing market place. During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, we shifted our focus from predominantly working within the commercial heating sector to having a greater concentration on the domestic heating market place. We currently carry out work for a wide range of customers and currently provide central heating services to:
- Private Home Owners
- Government Funded Bodies
- Housing Associations
- Local Authorities
Through our constant investment in both technology and our workforce, we are continuing to expand and grow our company whilst maintaining the provision of a first class quality service for our customers.
Being Part of a Social Enterprise
The company has now enjoyed being part of the award winning social enterprise McSence since February 2008. This relationship has allowed Hepburn's not only to invest in new technology to further improve its communication between the client, office based administrators and field based staff, but also to work from the superbly equipped and situated purpose built corporate headquarters of the McSence Group of Companies. McSence was started in 1989 to provide full time sustainable employment in Mayfield and Easthouses and return money to the community and through a number of successful ventures including the purchase of Hepburn now employ 150 people, turnover £8M and have returned back to the community up to £150,000 per annum.
